Each guide does the educational work the book deliberately leaves to the reader.
HOW TO USE THIS GUIDE
This Reader’s Guide is available in several editions, each designed for a particular audience.
The General Readers Edition — Agency Beyond the Present Condition: A Conceptual Framework for All Readers — develops the central argument of I, System visually and philosophically. It moves from the framework established in the book to the questions raised by future developments in AI capability and agency. It includes three original diagrams and questions for reflection throughout.
Additional editions are designed for book clubs, educators, students, parents, and professionals. Each presents the same core conceptual framework while adapting the discussion questions, examples, exercises, and applications to its intended audience.
Each edition can be used independently. Readers may choose the version most relevant to their interests or context.
